From overpopulation in shelters, abused dogs in mills, kill shelters opening up across the country, and private breeders breeding excessively, animals everywhere are loosing their lives because of these issues. â€Å"There are still more than 70 million homeless pets living in the U.S. Of these 70 million needy animals, only around six to seven million are put into shelters each year,† (Henn). Many of these animals without homes, are not even in shelters and are instead dying on the streets because there are too many to rescue in the small amount of time rescuers have. These breeds are usually purebred dogs because new owners do research on different types of dogs to find the best match for their families. As Cabral states, â€Å"Before getting a dog from a breeder, visit your local shelter and contact breed specific recuse shelters for a specific breed of dog.† Meaning, even though private breeder do have purebreds, be sure to check breed specific rescue shelters that are available for ever breed of dog there is. Not only do people associate the factor of purebreds being associated with private breeders, but they believe the myth of dogs from breeders being a superiority as well. â€Å"Consumers looking for a new family pet are willing to pay exuberant amounts of money for a purebred dog because they are told that the puppy has been raised in a loving environment and will grow up to have a friendly disposition with minimal health problems,† (Henn). These customers are under the assumption that because they are being rais ed by one person in an open place, they automatically are free from behavioral and health issues, when this is not the case at all. I received an assignment to investigate a complaint on Dr. Michael Kaplan on 11/20/2014 regarding some concerns raised about Dr. Kaplan’s practice at Boone Hospital. These concerns triggered an investigation by the medical executive committee (MEC). Dr. Kaplan elected to retire from the hospital, resign his medical staff appointment and clinical privileges. This was reported to the Board of Healing Arts and to the National Practitioner Databank. After serving a subpoena for the investigation at Boone Hospital, I received approximately 108 pages of documents from Nancy Tune, RN on 01/07/2015. In these documents I found that Dr. John J. Seaberg, M.D. had observed on March 14, 2014 Chris Kaplan dissect the implant pocket for a breast augmentation using the electro cautery and use a #10 scalpel blade to make the skin incision for an abdominoplasty while Dr. Mike Kaplan was sitting beside the operating table with his hands folded on the patient watching his wife operate. Mrs. Kaplan is not a nurse or a doctor. Dr. Seaberg believes that this is a violation of 334.2(4)d and 334.040. He feels that she is not qualified by training, skill, competency, age, experience, or licensure to perform such responsibilities. There is a copy of a letter from Dr. Seaberg to Mark Cohen, M.D. Chief of Staff of Boone hospital stating the above. This matter was referred to the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) to investigate this incident and Dr. Mike Kaplan’s fitness to perform surgery.

He plays a dangerous game filled with life-altering decisions that determine who he is as a person in the world. The game Huck plays occasionally gets him into a rare moral dilemma. He has to choose between violating the entire code of social, religious, and conventional behavior, which the world has taught him, and betraying the person whom he loves most in his life. Huck s ailing conscience prompts him to write a letter, advising Miss Watson that her slave, Jim, is in Mr. Phelp s possession. After writing the letter he says, I felt good and all washed clean of sin for the first time I had ever so in my life, and I knowed I could pray now. But I didn t do it straight off but laid the paper down and set there thinking-thinking how good it was all this happened so, and how near I come to being lost and going to hell (Twain). This is just one instance where Huck shows promising signs of breaking free from the close-minded upbringing that has been instilled upon him. Huck s adventures are a sort of right of passage to adulthood. He discovers new ways of thinking, acting, and living that he would never have gotten to even consider if he were not exposed to them in the real world. As Huck matures, his values evolve from a selfish, loner attitude to a loyal and dependable friend. When a problem does arise for either Huck, Jim, or even newly found friends along the river, the once self-centered, ignorant, young boy uses his moral judgment to do what is right. Most amusing is the struggle Huck has with his conscience in regard to slavery. His conscience tells him, the way it has been instructed, that to help the runaway slave, Jim, to escape is an enormous offense. Not to mention that Jim belonged to Miss Watson, who had always treated both he and Huck very well. Huck feels that aiding in stealing Miss Watson s property will no doubt carry him to the bad place. Huck s deep affection for Jim ultimately induces him to violate his conscience and risk eternal punishment by helping his friend, and slave, Jim to escape. The whole study of Huck’s moral nature is as serious as it is amusing, his confusion of wrong as right and his abnormal mendacity, traceable to his training from infancy, is a singular contribution to the investigation of human nature (Hartford). Twain writes The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in the best way that a story is written, by telling it. This book is an eyewitness account through Huck s eyes. He lets the reader enjoy the tale unaccompanied by signposts or directions on how he or she should understand it and profit by it. Life teaches its lessons by implication, not by didactic preaching; and literature is at its best when it is an imitation of life and not an excuse for instruction (Perry). The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is literature at its best. Mark Twain simply gives the reader a pleasurable coming of age, adventure on the Mississippi with a runaway slave. In his preface he even instructs his readers to just enjoy the story and not to look for a moral. In doing so, Twain actually intrigues the reader and motivates them to find their own meaning in what he has written. It is almost as if he uses reverse psychology on his readers. It describes the life of a twelve-year old girl, Patty Bergen. This book concentrates on the relationship between Patty and her new friend Anton, a German escapee. Patty meets her new friend in her father’s shop, when a troop of POWs enter the store. The two protect and teach each other thought the story. In this review, readers will discover what it’s like to live during the time of Theodore Roosevelt and World War II. 12 year-old Patty Bergen, living in Jenkinsville, Arkansas during World War II, meets a German POW, Anton Rieker, when he purchases items at her father’s department store. She then agrees to hide Anton above her families’ garage, and steal food from her family to feed him. Soon enough news breaks out that a German POW has escaped, which puts the whole town on edge. Patty and her family are questioned. As Anton continues to live above the family garage, Patty becomes very angry with Anton because he had not asked her to leave with him after the war. Patty then realizes she needs to make a decision within her; she needed to choose between her father and Anton, she feels if turns Anton in her father will become popular and will love her, but Anton won’t. But soon enough her decision was made. Later that evening, Patty met Anton in the hideout with intentions of leaving with him, but was told otherwise. Before Anton jumped into the train, he gives her a kiss and a valuable ring that has been in his family for generations. When Anton left, Patty wore it around her neck as remembrance. When Patty begins to show it off she is questioned, she tells several people that â€Å"I saw this man walking down the road†¦Ã¢â‚¬ , â€Å"He asked me if I lived nearby and if I could spare a piece of bread with maybe a bit of butter on it.† (140) â€Å"Well, after he finished eating he thanked me and said that because I was obviously a person o value he was going to reward me with his most valuable possession.† (140) Patty confessed and soon found out what happened to Anton .Patty is charged and sent away, she ends up losing the one person she has left. Readers will find the different elements of the book attention grabbing. If you (the reader) are interested in romance, important lessons and danger this is a book for you. But the reader may not like the beginning of this book; it becomes useless to the plot of the story. When Patty meets Anton the story accelerates. â€Å"Now it so happens Aunt Dorothy is no beautiful thing.† (29) Upon completion the reader will find, as my example shows, the begging of the novel is pointless. As a reader, the middle of the story was more intriguing to me. A future reader that is interested in the time of World War II and the time of Theodore Roosevelt will also enjoy this novel. Though the book does not specifically explain this era it still is considered a part of it. I recommend this to risk takers, romantic novel readers and history involved book readers.

The Court should only accept evidence that was passed by the court below however new evidence should pass by on special ground .When it comes to Criminal matters,the Court of Appeal cannot hear an appeal when the orders were already made by the High Court from the Subordinate Court except when it exercise original criminal jurisdiction in the latter part. When the High court already made a decision to a convicted person,the Court of Appeal may permit the person to have an appeal if it believes that it has a reasonable doubt and the sentence should be reduced. Criminal and Civil Jurisdiction of the High Court In Singapore,the High Court is the lower division of Supreme Court that implements the appellate and original jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters.The high court has power in any written law relating to divorce,bankruptcy and matters of admiralty. In implementing appellate civil jurisdiction the hearing should come from the District Courts,Magistrates’ Courts and other tribunal. When it comes to permitting for an appeal,it should be approved by one of the Court above where the amount does n ot exceed $50,000. In appellate criminal jurisdiction, the criminal cases came from the District and Magistrates’ Courts. The High Court will not overturn the judgment that has been made unless the law is wrong or circumstances are inadequate.In this situation the Court should follow some orders like reversing the decision or enhancing the sentenced that was given and the rest. The jurisdiction of the various divisions of court in the Subordinate circuit Subordinate court is one of the two tiers in court system of singapore beside of supreme court. Family court is now unified court,dealing with all family proceeding in Singapore,Philosophy of the Family Court is to strenghten family ties and preserved. Coroner's Court Coroner's Court carried out for a sudden death such as accidents on the highway,in a jail cell,and suicide. Basicly,the Crime Forensic team analyze the death body of victim and report the result to the court.Later,the trial judge's decision will result in the stated cause of death : are pure death, by accident, or open to further investigation. Neighborhood Court Treatment for cases occurring within family dealt by Neigborhood Court. The cases handled include family violence,disputes within the scope of the community,attempted suicide,law violations even animal cruelty. Traffic Court On the highway frequently found violations caused user negligence from the mere breach of signs to accidents causing casualties that is handled by the Singapore Traffic Court after rec eiving reports of violations.The violations include drunk driving or traffic violations by the Land Transport Authority or the traffic police declared there was no other way that can be taken for that incident. Friendship is more than just being friends. True friend is the one who knows everything about you and is there when you need him/her. Everyone should have such person. I have found mine. Our friendship has not been long, we have known each other a little more that a year, but we quickly found a common language and by now there has formed a strong bond between us. Maybe this is because of the fact that we have spent practically every day together. We are really inseparable. I like about my friend that whenever I have had a problem or hard times I can always turn to him and share my problems. What is more, it seems he has answers to everything though sometimes they cannot be taken seriously that bristles me up in a while. After that, I am often surprised, how my friend still tolerates me, but then I realise that is because we are used to each other. Even If I annoy him, and he annoys me and we feel that the other is intolerably nerve-wracking, we have so many cherished memories that we cannot just interdict our friendship. Finally, each friendship, and not only friendship, all relationships have high and low tide periods, so has our friendship, but despite the conflicts and quarrels, we stick together through thick and thin. To sum up, true friend is necessary like water and air and we have to hold tight not to loose them, because it is hard to survive without their support. My friend is indispensable for me and I am delighted to have such a great person in my life.
